Online tour around Pingshan concluded

In2021, the Pingshan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese launched a three-month-long online tour around Pingshan through an online platform themed“Meet Pingshan from Overseas” to help overseas Chinese learn more about Pingshan.

The platform included five sections, namely,“Overview,”“News,”“Business,”“Culture” and“Feature,” and published210 bilingual articles and30 short videos to display the revolutionary and local culture of Pingshan and the achievements that the district has made in the terms of industry, scientific innovation, urban construction and culture since the launch of the reform and opening up in China. Viewers could also find the latest news about Pingshan’s industrial policies and business facilities on the platform.

Through the videos on the platform, viewers could learn about Pingshan’s parks, modern cultural venues, medical and educational development, traditional Hakka culture and the three backbone industries of Pingshan.

The platform also had a column that featured exclusive interviews with five entrepreneurs who had overseas educational background, including Wang Zhihang, Lin Jiaji, Guo Jian, Zhang Lufei and Zhang Jiajun. In the interviews, the young entrepreneurs shared their impressions of Pingshan and their stories of founding businesses in the district.

At the message board of the online platform, many overseas Chinese left messages to encourage other people and express their best wishes for the others as well as their hopes to visit China one day.

Daisy from Malaysia, whose family had moved to the country three generations ago, told the organizer that her daughter had gained a deeper understanding of Chinese culture through an online summer camp hosted by the federation. In addition to courses that featured Chinese classics, Chinese calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting, the summer camp also offered special honorary certificates and gifts with Pingshan features to the participants as a gesture to encourage more overseas Chinese teenagers to learn about Chinese culture.

So far, the platform has received more than3.2 million views. A total of82 original articles of the platform were also published by major media outlets, which received more than3 million views.
